5Just Like Grandma'sJul 13, 2011
By Thomas C. Stoddard "connoisseur"
I was not too sure what I was getting into when my wife decided she wanted to do some quilting. We had seen some of the small units made of PVC tubes available in the craft stores, purchased and returned one, as it seemed that it was just too much mounting and dismounting of the workpiece to do even a project of any appreciable size, even a twin sized quilt. So, we scoped around for a more traditional quilting frame, found this, and it was exactly what we remembered using with the family, and wanted to have available. We have done one quilt on it and it worked great. It is made out of Salt Lake City, and shows the standard features one would expect from the old pioneer tradition of that hardy people. I especially appreciate the feature of the holes cut through the slats, and the long slag bolts so that the frame pieces can all be dismantled, loaded onto these bolts, and held in place for easy storage; with a wooden carrying handle, to boot.
This frame is great. Precision cut, so it all snapped into place simply. And, we have no excuse now not to get some of those projects finished in our home, any more.
